It seems to me that the major theme common to them is that unpredictability, surprise, and novelty are sacred, even if it hurts. It's always performing the same acts, the same motions, in the same environment that leads to a personal hell. Something to think about.

Dune - In my case, reading through Chapterhouse (still!) - Paul makes it very clear early in the series that he sees his prescience as a curse, that there is no longer any surprise in life. That's a theme in the series, and one humanity is trying to claw its way out of.

Super cruise is just faster moving normal space, but you don't have up and down axes. In SC, when you are headed to a point, the distance is important, sure, but watch for the time to hit 10 to 7 sec, then throttle down to 75%. It's weird math. It gets easier, but welcome to the learning curve!
