looking at historical notes, you'd get things listed by £ or l (lowercase L), then Shillings (S), then pennies (d), and most expenditures would work with S/d. Though this IS working with a particular note, "Life on a guinea a week" (where a guinea is a different name for a sovereign)

and pre-decimalisation sterling was fucked - one sovereign (the earliest version of a pound coin) was worth one of the following: 4 crowns 8 half-crowns 10 florins 20 shillings 40 sixpence 60 groats 80 threepennies 240 pennies 480 halfpennies 960 farthings

prior to £1 notes, there were sovereigns and half-sovereigns floating around, just full-on gold coins. the banks started taking those back in favour of paper issuances which would then have that monetary value, but before proper standardisation, so it really was just hoping the banks would play nice

the £1 coin only gets reintroduced a year after the 20p coin (it was paper money before), and old coins start getting pulled from circulation; older-make pennies are made from enough copper that their material value beats their face value; quarter-pounds are re-tariffed as £5 coins

learning about british coinage is fucked up, like 5 and 10p coins appeared in the late 60s, followed a year later by the 50p coin; then decimalisation fully kicks in with 2p, 1p and ½p coins at the start of the 70s; we don't get a new coin until 1982 with the 20p to relieve wallet weights

About a month ago, powmia99 discovered a way to trigger arbitrary code execution fully standalone in Animal Crossing GameCube with nothing but a controller. This was confirmed by Cuyler and I to work on vanilla hardware and we now have a setup that makes it 100% consistent.

i think the funniest fighting game balance change ive ever seen is in the formerly-rare umk3 wavenet rather than removing the base umk3 infinites by nerfing chars, instead they kept them in but added a cap to total moves in a combo. if u try to infinite still, the game makes fun of you, LOOOL

NES-style metroidvania with modern QoL features like customisable map pins, except for the sake of authenticity it gives you a "password" that's really a base-64 encoding of the game state that you have to write down rather than save files, so the more map pins you place the longer your password is.
