Penguins have such a sharp divide of colors. they really are just dressed for the occasion. it only made sense if Pelko was "wearing" it too. i guess one thing i had to be careful of was their flat areas that needed subtle gradients. other than that, their shapes are very simple

way too tired to be drawing something complex. i instead played around a bit with colors and it sort of looks like i watercolored this one. is it maybe the time to tap back into that style? i haven't done much like it and i'm liking the texture. maybe i can make something better

getting the fluid to look exactly like the food everyone knows is a bit delicate. i focused on the texture of spreading the jam with a butter knife so it has those streaks of shading. down each curve of the pb&j was more worried Pelko's costume might not be bread-y enough...

it cleanses the soul to just draw something so.... shapely i just get different phases of wanting to draw a specific way. some days i want to make a lot of lines and details, or scribbly, and lately im feeling for more of whatever this is. i think doing "just enough" is relaxing

most of the time his eyes are fully colored in during outlining, so it stays one color. but today he gets an exception. since he's small, i don't bother detailing his eyes, its easier to keep it simple. for a long while i tried keeping our eyes the same as well

it really is a jumpscare to see his teeth. maybe some Pelkos deviate in how their bites look, but they mostly have teeth! composition confused me a bit. camera is basically below my belly button because my height relative to sinks and i have to show Pelko standing on the sink

sometimes i forget that the moon looks very specific. you can try drawing it from memory but our moon is always facing us so it's not a random texture you apply to the surface. similar for the stars in the sky, but i don't want to manually dot all the stars accurately. dats crazy

It's a very simple one. so much so that i felt compelled to add more crease on the surface of the cardboard box. it looks good so i can't complain, but i know brand new boxes hardly show such textures. but then again, they easily get bent, so maybe thats as realistic as it gets

i think painting the wall blue so that the debris have blue sides was a good choice. the scene is readable since you can clearly see individual pieces of concrete. i think one of the bigger issue for me was conveying him holding in his breath and coughing the dust
