I appreciate that even so-called conservatives are finally getting it. Republicans claimed “originalism” was calling balls and strikes but it’s just judicial relativism

Those governments permit the aircraft to launch, refuel, receive targeting intelligence and return to those bases. The U.S. almost certainly would not describe those facilities as neutral simply because the bombs were carried by Chinese aircraft. Why do we expect Iran to behave differently?

Imagine this scenario: Chinese aircraft repeatedly strike the continental United States. They operate from airfields in Cuba and Mexico.

When Trump is gone, our allies will not trust us. They'll be beset with severe economic and political challenges, including from their own far right. We will have an entrenched tech oligarchy that sees LATAM's far-right as its ally and Europe as its enemy. And unions fighting to preserve tariffs.

The Republicans and Trump did this. They are deporting babies without family, connections, or legal representation to foreign countries. Republicans harass immigrants and people of color to the point of attempting suicide. Republicans are the party of death and cutting taxes. That’s all.

Palantir shifting from hiring only "Ivy or Ivy-equivalent" degrees to hiring only out of high school is an admission that "training" and "talent" were never factors at all. They were looking for packaging & prestige, and now they're looking for ignorance & impressionability.
Tech companies launching their own programs to train grads because they ‘can’t rely’ on Ivy Leagues
By Lydia Moynihan
Published Oct. 1, 2026, 6:00 a.m. ETAs the university system increasingly becomes a wildly expensive bastion of anti-Western sentiment, key figures in Silicon Valley are betting on alternatives to higher education. They argue that even the Ivy League is no longer producing the best candidates — nor are they even accepting some of the most qualified students.

“It used to be the case that you could rely on somebody who went to an Ivy or Ivy-equivalent to be top notch,” said Jordan Hirsch, who runs Palantir’s semester-long intensive Meritocracy Fellowship, which accepts high school graduates.“But that’s not the case anymore… we suspected that there was a lot of talent being missed.”

Trump and the Republicans are the last gasp of that generation of conservatives and Republican ideologues who are essentially trying to rehabilitate themselves decades later and address their gripes- from Iran, to Cuba, to Watergate. They all connected

I’ve been saying for a long time - even before Trump - the the Republicans never got over Watergate and have been fighting it’s legacy ever since. One example is the refrain from the far right conservatives about the “liberal” media is rooted in the Vietnam/Watergate narratives.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.
