The wish to have carmakers offer more affordable EVs, not just high-end models, is also reflected in the EU’s idea of offering extra incentives for small EVs ‘made in Europe’ (unfortunately in such a way that every small EV sold in the EU keeps the door open for a large fossil-fuelled SUV).
170
Jaap Burger @jaapburger.eu · 10h
That does not mean the policy is bad or unnecessary; the ‘affordable’ segment at the lower end of the market is not automatically served by car manufacturers, nor are the upfront costs barriers for switching to an EV addressed properly without this program.

The strict criteria for this round, which prevented Volkswagen (Group) from taking part, may therefore turn out to be a blessing in disguise for VW & co. Apparently, in August, as much as 75 per cent of VW’s sales to private customers were EVs?

An interesting piece on the social leasing of EVs in France. What began as a double-edged sword of industrial policy and social policy has now reached a point where it is the car manufacturers who are no longer so keen on it: the market is ‘taking off’ of on its own,

Except for Chargepoint, which somehow has a virtual monopoly on chargers – for various customers (CPOs) – with extremely high ad hoc prices. They use this as a starting point to force parties into B2B price agreements. It’s absurd that there’s a price totem here displaying such a ridiculous price.

»Tesla?
