giving GWB a Nobel Peace Prize would be an abomination but I suppose they have a history (yes, PEPFAR was great...but still)

35% first answered "work with Trump" and of those, 62% wanted to change the system. 38% said they should be a check! The remaining 21% prioritized "be a check on Trump" and then 78% said to change the system. Confusing set of questions but I think the overall sentiment is there

Checking the methods: www.cookpolitical.com/survey-resea... they were asked these questions sequentially. First they were asked which of the three they like, then asked to choose between the second two. 43% first answered "change the system" and then of those, 78% chose "be a check on Trump"

I assume that insulting Trump to his face in a way he doesn't understand is an unofficial sport among world leaders.

simple recursive strategy: separate the problem into two smaller brains, then solve each of those by dividing them, and so on

apply it retroactively, even the Never Trump republicans were happy with every step that got them to that point

Trumpuary 2037. AOC's handing over the trumpresidency to her VT Jon Ossoff, who ran on expanding universal trumpcare and instituting trumpolicing reforms. He carried 43 strumps and the Trumpstrict of Trumplumbia. He'll be sworn in by Chief Trumpreme Court Justice Maxwell Frost. This would be fine.

People act like I'm just being cynical but I remember the posts about the incoming trifecta last cycle. Great at political analysis, but lousy at election forecasting

It says something about local dialects that a) I never once heard this in decades of growing up and living in the Boston area and b) I could still believe that there's some hyperlocal enclave that I've never visited where this is true

The outside of the War Remnants Museum is fun because it's like "here's an F-4, we stole it when they left LOL" And then the inside of the museum is different

in the 4th grade we were assigned to do a research report about an animal of our choosing. As a very precocious nerd I decided I wanted to study the Vietnam War because I liked helicopters. My parents, who first met protesting, were insistent that I read more broadly on the subject.

Last time Trump mailed out a ton of cash he was already on his way to losing 2020. The resulting inflationary spike completely torched the Democrats' chances in 2024. Pretty funny for him to try it again with even more money, two years before the next election.

I vastly prefer papers that are written in a real human voice rather than an affected "academic" style. As long as the language is still precise enough to get things across
