What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

There are 25,000 creative agencies in the UK. Why do they all sound the same?
A consultant ran nearly 1,600 of them through an AI tool to work out why and the results are not flattering. Read more here

Saddened to hear my good friend the Finger Taker has passed away. I never agreed with him about amputating people's fingers in his dungeon, but I'll always remember the collegial good times, and most of all his great sense of humor. What laughs we had. Condolences to Ginny and his whole family.

This is absolutely nuts: hackers are hijacking high-profile Instagram accounts by simply asking Meta's AI chatbot to change the email on the account. Meta's AI does it, hacker gets password reset code, they're in. A staggering security issue www.404media.co/hackers-simp...

If a factory owner dumps toxic waste into a river and then moves upstream, most people would recognize the moral tension immediately. The criticism isn’t that he moved. It’s that he insulated himself from consequences everyone with homes on the river downstream must continue living with. 1/3

Uber’s COO has said that it’s getting “harder to justify” its AI costs because there was no way to show a link between AI spend and any meaningful increase in useful features. This is the first time I’ve seen a company say this directly. www.businessinsider.com/uber-coo-and...
"That link is not there yet, right?" he said. think maybe implicitly there is more that is getting shipped, but it's very hard to draw a line between one of those stats and, 'Okay, now we're actually producing 25% more useful consumer features."
He said that the trade-off costs from Al are harder to justify because he can't draw a direct link. Earlier this month, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in an earnings call that Uber was slowing hiring to counter its investments in AI.The comment led to what he described as a
"head-exploding moment," sparking discussions about AI token consumption within the company and the trade-offs it creates, such as on head count.
He said that, based on talks with Uber's senior engineering leaders, he realized higher token usage did not translate into a proportional increase in useful consumer features.
