Over the past couple years, I have written several times about SOGI 123. What more is there to say? Obviously the BC NDP were not persuaded. itsryanclayton.substack.com/p/incomprehe...

Conservatives have candidates in every riding. Greens managed to run in more ridings in this snap election than they did in the previous scheduled one. NDP fall just short of a full slate despite controlling election timing. One is actually ⅓. Centre BC ironically has no candidates in central BC.

I'm one again reminding people that aggregate projections (like 338) are not polls and presenting them at the riding level as a poll is LYING.

When Bernier took on Centre BC he put a lot of emphasis on being thoughtful and serious about policy and not feeding "divisive and fear-tactic politics." One week under Sturko and they're back to shallow rhetoric, fanning flames and fear mongering about harm reduction.

The Greens are once again campaigning on their lack of ambition. They want all the decision making power without having to actually win seats. Balance of power is a lucky draw, not a serious strategy.

I was so close to voting for them, but Sturko going anti-SOGI when she flipped to the Conservatives made me sick. What a disappointing development, if Bernier hadn't handed over the party to Milobar they might have done well.

Conservatives looked at a moment where there has been more appetite for right of centre governance than any point in the last 15 years and decided to make themselves completely unelectable. Just incredible work by those with terminal Twitter brain poisoning.

people on other social media sites debate endlessly about tactics and ideology and wedge issues and purity, and all of that is super fun but if your leader is someone who can't deal with other people, all that other stuff doesn't really matter, and these debates are sort of pointless

It's a good outcome and precedent, but "historic" is still a painfully abused adjective in politics.
000
Ryan Clayton @itsryanclayton.substack.com · 18/09/2026
I am begging political parties to stop using "historic" as an adjective to describe something that happened, with the same outcome, in 2014, 2018, 2022 and now 2026. Also, the city needs to get over itself and stop making people go to court to defend their own names.

Imagine being John Rustad. You build a party from almost nothing, almost win government, get kicked out as leader by the caucus you got elected, and then the leader who replaces you throws you out of caucus altogether. Like I don't agree with him on much, but jeez he did not deserve this.

There was a kid who bullied me all through elementary school. For years and years. One day in grade 6 I'd had enough, grabbed him by the backpack, and threw him into a tree; right smack into the trunk, Wile E. Coyote-style. My teachers were so mad. I got suspended. He never bullied me again though.
