Pretty similar to the McDonald's coffee lawsuit, was actually McD's fault and started as a reasonable request for medical bills and spiraled out when they told the lady to fuck off. Corpos (including private equity obv) gonna throw that propaganda so the actual reasons are mired in doubt.

Prisoners in America generally (only two states currently allow it IIRC) don't get the right to vote. The article shows that counting prisoners as residents basically inflates the areas hosting prisons with extra population numbers and gives them extra voting power in things like state races.
