Huge loss for the DC area, especially for folks who infrequently drive. It’s unfortunate that DC Council never seemed to fully embrace car-sharing as a way to complement transportation options in the district and reduce private car ownership. It should have been incentivized à la Capital Bikeshare.

A lot to dunk on Amy for here, but the idea that a relationship can only be “sexual” if he can get it up and there is PIV is the kind of thing I’d expect someone cancelled by the MeToo movement to say.

Silo is really good but definitely a slow burn at parts, especially in the first half of S2. Rebecca Ferguson is fantastic though. Hope you enjoy it!

Oof. Car-sharing regrettably continues to shrink in the DC area. Now Free2Move is ending its Arlington zone. Car-sharing availability is a great way to get car owners who infrequently drive to give up their cars. We should be working to expand it.

Safety is obviously an important reason to pursue Platform Screen Doors, but crucially this also allows WMATA to significantly increase service frequency, speed, and reliability with the same number of train sets. That’s a big win for unlocking new capacity on the crowded red line.

The introduction of European-style outdoor dining to American cities is one of the very few good things to come from the pandemic and Mayor Bowser’s parting gift was to kill it completely.

It’s past time for DC to ditch individual wheelie bins in its densest neighborhoods and embrace European-style containerization. Fewer blocked sidewalks, alleys, and bike lanes and more efficient and easier pickup for sanitation workers. Cc: @brianneknadeau.bsky.social

Also 17th NW down to the Mall and connected to 15th and Penn Ave west via H so that there’s a protected wrap all the way around the WH.

christopher @its-xopher.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
We really need a protected N-S on the western side of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. 4th/6th are obvious candidates given the existing lanes, but 2nd wouldn’t be bad either (it’s already partly protected from L to F St NE as a sidewalk level multi use path although not shown here)

Makes a strong case to fully protect E Capitol St and also add a protected north/south route from NoMa to Navy Yard near 4th/6th.

Really appreciate your statement and work to beef up resources during public events. But we also need resources at ATP on non-event nights. There are domestic disturbances and violent, drunken, aggressive behavior almost nightly and at all hours both in the park and next door at the Gale.

For those unfamiliar with DC’s parking permit fees - they’re outrageously cheap. One household can park three vehicles on public roads for $250 per year. That’s the same price most renters pay *monthly* for just ONE vehicle in their apartment building garage!
020
christopher @its-xopher.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
DC residents (like almost everywhere else) complain about how parking is getting harder to find these days. They’ll point to safety features like bike lanes or pedestrian daylighting as the main culprit, but never consider the fact that their car size might be a factor! @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social

Washington, DC became a leader in the US a few years ago when it began charging heavier cars a bigger registration fee to offset road damage. Next, we should tackle the impact larger cars have on parking. The longer your car, the more curb you take for yourself, the higher your parking permit fee.
