Ian @isuffix.com · 25/08/2026My personal life hack is to buy a 50-pack of 3x3in _jewelry polishing cloths_ for $7 instead of glasses cloths. They fit better in a pocket, and when they inevitably get grimy and oily (like 2 weeks) you can just throw them out because they're so cheap and you have 50 of them. 000

Ian @isuffix.com · 19/08/2026You mentioned that you're using a more concrete AST instead of lowering the abstraction. Have you considered using a fully concrete tree with a lazy typed AST on top? It's been pretty ergonomic for us in Typst. Here's the comment I wrote explaining it: github.com/typst/typst/...github.com 010

Ian @isuffix.com · 10/08/2026FYI this post has a bunch of mixed tabs and spaces in the code examples which breaks the indentation since the default `tab-size` on the web is `8`. You should add `html { tab-size: 4; }` to your CSS styles or set up something in your editor to avoid adding tabs in code blocks. 110

Ian @isuffix.com · 07/07/2026Hmm, could be phrased as a survey question: Is Rust as good as a systems lang can be? - We may never beat Rust - New research is needed - Existing ideas just need impls - Rust itself can become better - Existing langs need popularity - Popular langs are already better (generally/in a specific way) 010

Ian @isuffix.com · 07/07/2026Typst's domain is mixed between writing academic articles that need math and citations vs. acting as an input format for content in SSGs. I doubt it could really replace HTML as a format sent across networks, but it's super interesting to consider it as a base for styled documents generally 020

Ian @isuffix.com · 17/05/2026I think so. Adding a variant to a new enum adds the number of values of that variant to the enum, but adding _no_ variants to an enum leaves it unchanged, so the enum with no variants acts like the additive identity in terms of number of values 020
