Typst and Yu-Gi-Oh enjoyers may be interested to know that I landed a joke into the raw syntax docs for the next version :)
Screenshot of part of the new Typst documentation for raw syntax. A vertical column containing a section header, a short paragraph, a Typst code block, and an image of the rendered output of the block.

The header reads "Embedding strings with raw syntax", and the code block starts with "An inline YAML dictionary via `.text`". In the block is YAML code with a map of Magic, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh each with a "limited-by" field with Mana, Energy, and "false" respectively. In the rendered output, "Mana" and "Energy" are highlighted as green strings with quotes and "false" stands out as a red boolean value.

Firefox… no. Please please no
Screenshot of Firefox for iOS on a lobste.rs page, but the actual page is shifted down to only a third of the screen, the top is now a large red gradient with “summarize this page?” and a large button to continue to some form of AI text summary.

@felienne.bsky.social I just finished reading "A Case for Feminism in Programming Language Design" and really enjoyed the paper! But I saw this endnote and wanted to share that there are greener pastures for typesetting languages on the horizon: @typst.app handles arabic by default!
A quote from endnote 22 of 'A Case for Feminism in Programming Language Design': "It took the authors of this paper considerable effort and knowledge of the Arabic alphabet to properly typeset قلب in Latex, a case in point. This is also the reason we use endnotes rather than footnotes; footnotes are not compatible with arabtex."
