There's a major state-federal data sharing issue happening, too. For the past year we've seen the federal government try to collect voter data, both through DOJ requests and by repurposing the DHS SAVE system.

Making process changes right before an election is NOT best practice. It raises the risk of error, confusion, and distrust. Mail voting is already unjustifiably maligned, and any administration issues the EO/new rules cause may contribute to disenfranchisement and undermine trust in the process.

Monetization in this context puts social media companies in such an unusual position. And direct-to-influencer payments (crowdsourcing) is an awesome way to support creators in a messed up media economy, but I'm also eyeing it for risks like undisclosed funding, including from foreign actors
