I’ve been wondering whether this was less about the shock of watching Schmitt get pantsed than it was about realizing that you’re the next Republican questioner, and your script was based on following up this accusation, and now you have nothing.

I also think about Elon saying Biden's DOJ wouldn't prosecute Sam Bankman-Fried because he was a Dem donor... followed by Biden's DOJ nailing SBF, who now posts about how awesome Trump is so he can get a pardon.

In one Word, did Donald Trump's war in Iran drive up gas and diesel prices for Americans?

You have staffers to know about sports and stuff so you don’t get embarrassed like this. The problem with hiring groypers is that all of their normal guy knowledge has been removed and replaced with theories about skull shapes.

Jack Smith is testifying before the Senate this morning, and a GOP Senator just grilled him about being at an Atlanta Hawks game in ATL, and accused him of perjury bc he denied this was the case. Turns out, it was an Iowa HAWKEYES game in Maryland. These are the most unserious people ever.

This is an incredibly important point. Every time I've warned of fascism or dictatorship, people have laughed and said that full-blown dictatorship has obviously not arrived. But that's often not how it arrives, fully garbed. It arrives thru steady erosion of norms that you barely notice are gone.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.

It is telling how national leftists lost all interest in the Maine Senate race once Democrats got a nominee who wasn’t attacking Dems 24/7. Leftism in the U.S. is a movement focused on attacking Dems. You also saw it on elite campuses under Biden & their silence once Trump was elected.
