These metrics can't be direct ranking factor. We contacted @tunetheweb.com with major anomalies, our homepage has zero ads yet the metrics measure 2-6 ads. He found that our user initiated search function is flagged as a major false positive site-wide. He was amazing and added "experimental" labels.

Final report @rustybrick.com. The thumb bug 🐛 is fully cleared up and all other recipe sites that pinged me have reconfirmed. Our GSC reports (2 recipes attached) show things clearing up last weekend. This isn't an insignificant amount of traffic. Can't thank you and the team enough @johnmu.com 🙏

Hey @rustybrick.com. Heard back from other food sites who can also confirm the major processing issue cleared up. Many had thumbnails stuck since August 31st. Huge shout out to @johnmu.com and the team for troubleshooting! 🎉📢 We are seeing significant lifts in traffic after the pipelines cleared up.

Really appreciate it John! Something major happened over the weekend. All stuck carousel images cleared up. 4-5 other recipe posts had the issue since the beginning of Sept. even with images removed from the page. Many other sites pinged us about it. Thank you so much @johnmu.com🙏 Something major just changed. The stuck thumb bug 🐛 cleared up for all of the recipe carousel thumbs that were stuck for weeks we were tracking. Two are attached. I’m going to check with the other food sites that pinged me. Did the team push a fix? cc @rustybrick.com

Just heard from other food sites also seeing this bug since late August. The recipe carousel image gets “stuck” & won’t update. This isn’t an auto thumb selection issue. To help the team, just removed the photo that looked similar to the “stuck”carousel image to help remove any confusion. Thanks 🙏

There is a tall vertical image that looks similar that we left on the page but the pan handle is the giveaway the image is different. Here they are side by side for the team to see. We are giving the bowl image w/ ice cream via JSON-LD, in the article, and removed the other image. Thank you! 🙏 (2/2)

Really appreciate it John!🙏 Our main concern is the recipe gallery image specifically. We know the other thumbs can be more auto chosen & cropped. It is strange that the Google recipe gallery image (below) was removed from the page entirely yet it is still chosen as the recipe gallery image. (1/2)

Thanks for covering Barry 🙏 Horrible development. This is taking Frankenstein recipes to another level by adding AI generated images. These are advanced Frankenstein recipes competing directly with publishers. In the examples we posted yesterday there are full AI recipes included. Not good!

Completely agree Barry. Google needs to do much better. People are going to trust these recipes. To get the links @glenngabe.bsky.social needed to ask follow up questions after being provided a full default error riddled Frankenstein recipe. Even then links weren’t accurate every time.
