I want to make a goal next year to read more. I really miss it. I read 60+ books in 2021 and had the time of my life but haven’t read much since. I read 14 books this year and my goal was 2 so I’m doing better. But I think it would help a lot with writer’s block but also with reducing screen time

I just joined one two weeks ago! Agreed, nothing beats the continuous/open dialogue of sharing your work in person. You can get feedback in real time from a group of people with a diversity of insights/perspectives. Hope your reading goes well!

YES I love that too! Or when an outsider sees them bickering and is like “damn they really hate each other” and a side character is like ‘oh no, they’re dating. They’re actually madly in love with each other.” Keep giving me the good stuff!! It’s why I fell in love them in the first place! 😂

I hate when MC/LI get together and lose their spark/banter in favor of romantic/sappy dialogue. My counter-example: LI to my MC post-kiss: You are hands down the most confusing human being I’ve ever met. I’ve watched documentaries about serial killers that are easier to understand #writingcommunity

I wrote today. I wrote the two climactic kiss scenes that I have been pulling my teeth out to write all week. The torment is over and I can go forward in peace. But I shall share a post-kiss snippet that I actually liked. #writing #writingcommunity

I spent my entire weekend reliving every second of that kiss.
If I let my attention drift for even a moment, my mind seized the opportunity to transport me back there. Every sensation haunted me. My heart pounded relentlessly as I imagined his warmth hovering close. My spine tingled as if his hand were still firmly pressed against my back. My stomach stirred at the palpable tension that wove between us like an invisible force leading up to the moment his lips had acquainted themselves with mine.
In those moments when I drifted, I’d return to reality to find my fingers pressed to my lips, as though our kiss still lingered there somehow, like fading ink on a worn out love letter.

It’s great that our stories can allow us to explore things that we’re learning about/dealing w/ irl. That’s where the magic lies. Love (platonic) for me is my closest friends. If I ever get a partner, I have to love them first the way I love my friends (and vice versa). Otherwise this ain’t it

See I've been using this thing all these years and I didn't even know it could do that 😂 you're teaching me. All that matters is you got turned onto it now, better late then never!

Second and third this. Ever since I discovered scrivener like 10 years ago my life has been forever changed. I'm always finding new things it's able to do. It serves almost every need you can think of (and even ones you didn't think of) and then some!

That's the thing with trad pub isn't it? It's about what sells and will make the most profit. Unfortunately rn due to the shift in the dynamics/population of readers (short attention span, not knowing how to read, etc.), tropes are what sell. It's disheartening for those who appreciate the craft.

It feels bittersweet and nostalgic but also hopeful which I think is the exact note I want to hit at the end! (4/4)

So she’ll introduce them and be like “look dad, I’m living/moving on. And I’m gonna be okay”. I think it’s a nice full circle moment bc her story/arc in the simplest terms is to no longer be “stuck” in the past and learn to live in the present/not be scared about the future. (3/4)

So I’m thinking of having Cami invite the friends she’s made throughout the story (including Mira and her brother) to her father’s grave in a sort of “come meet my dad!” moment [yes, her friends will act weirded out when she makes this request but will go along with it bc they love her] (2/4)

BOO OPTIMUM! (hope its all good now?) So I’ve been struggling w/ how to end MDE bc I didn’t want it to be an *and they lived happily ever after* moment. I wanted it to end on the right note/have the right tone that fit the story. And for it to be realistic and not fall flat after the climax (1/4)

Of course! And you don’t have to share it with anyone until you’re ready/comfortable enough to. But everyone starts somewhere. The important part is just to start! Good luck :D

This is a good ass question 😂 I want to say yes bc they grew and formed deep bonds with each other bc of them but…in reality they’d probably resent me and I wouldn’t blame them xD

Go for it! Who cares about being “good”?? If you have an idea and want to put your characters in cool/silly/weird scenarios then that’s enough reason to write! The important part is that *you’re* having fun. Write if you want to. You can only get “good” by actually doing it :)

Ok don't come for me but...I'm going to contradict the post I made literally 15 min ago and attempt to contain the chaos by deciding what chapters I want to write each week. I've been zero drafting Act 3 chapters to sprint to the end, but want to go back and actually write them. #WeeknightWriters

the ending mostly? The pantser in me left no guide for how to end this thing. Can't share too much but it's been tough to figure out how to not make the end fall flat after the climax. And to make the ending realistic but satisfying. While wrapping up the 32 subplots I started 🥲 #WeeknightWriters
