The result, in academia, is a white washing of experience, leading to the ivory tower. Assessment psych, and i0s moral influence from business in the 20s, is partially responsible for the way we engage in the world of work.

ASsessment psychology often measures people through the lens of institutions rather than the lens of human flourishing. Historically, our constructs developed alongside industry, the military, and organizations asking: Who is productive? Who conforms? Who is "well adjusted"?

The National Academy of Sciences has been trying to plot a course of appeasement. To not run afoul of this madman. Appeasement never works. It has never worked with bullies. The entirety of academia and the scientific community needs to stand together and fight against this monster.

Not yet. In review now. No pre-reg or preprint, sorry. We took same day PAI or MCMI as MMPI2RF in population VA to validate its triatchic scales. Its association with aggression and externalization was clear. Was also negatively assoc'd with over reporting and + with under reporting Some tables

I dont think its purely a .0 relationship, but it certainly is a smaller and second order one that appears inconsistently and we dont see able to reliably predict it. Or really, any underying assumption about validity (Performance or symptom validity)

Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
I'm trying to finish making this simulator to show the thought process, and what it means. Generally speak, it makes sense to me that no-morbidity and co-morbidity will conflate SVT issues as well as a function of zero inflation. We see the same patterns of expanding variance, stable effects etc.

Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
@eikofried.bsky.social summarizing @ashleylwatts.bsky.social et al's (always awesome) work is worth a read. His blog and simulator sent me down a rabbit hole on Symptom validity assumptions about how symptom domains co-vary and when they occur without that shared pattern. like INT / EXT traits

So conditional PVT–SVT associations may arise partly from this same second-order influence: a broad overreporting process changes how SVT scores covary, making their links with PVT failure appear stronger or more domain-specific than they truly are (see Basso and Boress)
000
Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
this means SVTs may retain useful scale-level differences without functioning as cleanly separate somatic, cognitive, and psychological detectors. Interpretation should emphasize broad response validity first, then domain-specific meaning cautiously.
100
Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
the simulated overlap is still weaker than the correlations reported in MMPI and PAI studies. Group separation alone is not enough. The published pattern likely also reflects a broader overreporting response style operating across symptom domains.
100
Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
So what are we seeing? using MMPI-2-RF meta-analytic group valurs shows that mixing genuine and feigning samples can inflate correlations among somatic, cognitive, and psychological SVTs. Part of the apparent “general SVT factor” may be a group-mixture effect.
100
Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
So, I made a simulator based on Eiko's work The idea is this: if how we understand and express symptoms (eg ext/int) changes as severity changes.. might this same pattern reflect SVT performance Its similar to Nie et al (2025) approoach to svt detection via covariance index / random forests.
100
Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
Sometimes domain led SVTs shine out. But not regularly. Meta analyses are not showing it. We see setting effects that may be consistent, but only when we zoom in there. Generally, domains dont appear. They just appear at times. Even SVT relationships to PVTs is limited, and unreliable.

This stems from a long history of assuming validity is resolved and then clinical scales are interested. The way I was trained is to "read tests left to right", tho validity signal is always clearly overlapping with bone fide symptoms...

Paul Ingram, Ph.D. @ingrampsychlab.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
First up, assumptions of symptom validity -we assume domains differ in our tests by face validity, a weak form of validity (Meehl) - but most tests get stable effects differing feigned from non.. no matter what the svt is. auc, eigenvalue factors, stable correlations, d between scales
