Lovely retelling of a classic! But it left me hungry. You can't go about describing yummy food when all I have in my cupboard is cereal!

We all know about comfort food but what about comfort books? Stories you turn to and return to when life is too much. It's LoTR for me this time. What's your comfort read?

That feeling when you're sure you've read a book before but can't remember it but all the details are so familiar...

The gospel according to Saint Mariann
A stained glass representation of Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde.
The text reads "Be merciful to the stranger
For we were all once strangers in this land"

First book of 2025 done! Read my way into 2025 with this one because I couldn't put it down. Love all the twists!

The anti-Hallmark Christmas story. Loved it, good twist but still not sure how I feel about the end (not the epilogue!)...

I spent a few days off-grid. No social media, no tv, no news. Just me, my family, and my books. It was heaven! 10/10 recommend.

Today's book recommendation! An absolute page turner from the first, think I read it in a day because I couldn't put it down. Do not start it late at night! @tjnewman.bsky.social

#Disember 1: Figment!
Illustration of Figment from ‘Journey into Imagination’. He’s holding open a book called ‘one little spark’ with stars coming out of it. The word ‘READ’ is visible behind him, like an old-school library PSA poster.

Had a rough day/ weekend/ year? Allow me to recommend a book that had me giggling all the way through and left me feeling so fucking happy. The best rom-com I've read in a while! @beafitzgerald.bsky.social

I can never understand why children's books get left out of "great book" lists. The books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes no-one. They are books for EVERYONE - and if you exclude them, you miss the most important books of all!

Authors receive a payment every time you borrow a book, audiobook or ebook from libraries in 35 countries. Those countries include the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany to name but a few. Borrowing a book helps the author’s pocket as well as yours.

Public Libraries can be wonderful places where children and adults can find books that they can see themselves reflected in, no matter who they are, and books that can introduce them to entire other lived experiences. Both are so valuable!

Never forget: READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So never stop sharing books with kids. Never stop reading to them, and helping them to read. Never stop changing lives. #literacy #kidlit #books
