I have played most of these, and my favorites are Yokai Septet and then Don Quixote (Boast or Nothing).

Lanterns the series was not about big budget spectacle, so anyone upset the finale did not have enough *punch, punch, flash, boom* wasn’t really paying attention to what the series was doing or saying.

Found a print file for Thing that I printed this week and got painted today. Nice spooky season decoration.

A ghastly white 3D print of Thing, the hand from The Addams Family and Wednesday series

Painted version of Thing with oozing blood from the stitches and dirt and discoloration around the hand.

How can you claim to be a fan of board game designers and artists when you are using (supporting) a tool designed to take their jobs? (And with output that is far inferior to authentic creation.) I don’t buy games that use AI. I don’t support content creators who use it either. /2

Seeing generative AI used in board games is bad enough, but I am seeing more and more board game content creators I previously enjoyed watching using it for their videos and thumbnails. (And/or giving coverage to games using generative AI.) 1/

Jisogi is probably one of the tightest economies in any game I’ve played, and I loved the struggle. Finished my first play tonight then instantly started to think about playing again and the different strategies I want to try out.

A game of Jisogi pictured from above set up on a table. At the top are three anime cards showing trending themes. In the middle is the central action selection board where worker tokens are placed. At the bottom are a player board and their four “dead inside” starting worker cards.

If you have the opportunity, check out New Frontiers. Race for the Galaxy is to San Juan as New Frontiers is to Puerto Rico. No idea why New Frontiers isn’t talked about more in the hobby.

I purchased a 3D printer about a month ago in large part as a way to make board game inserts. Now 3D printing has turned into a bit of a hobby itself. Has anyone else had a new side hobby emerge from another hobby? I imagine miniature painting might be another one for hobby tabletop gamers.

The Odyssey starts fast out of the gate and doesn’t let up. Almost three hours flies by, buoyed by excellent performances by the entire expansive cast. Highly recommend going to see it at theaters (especially IMAX). Fantastic film!

If only he was as discriminating against AI slop. Unsubscribed and comment left.

A thumbnail from the latest video from YouTuber “The Discriminating Gamer” features an AI-slop Cthulu with its tentacle wrapped around Cody, the host and aforementioned gamer.

My comment left on the video: “AI is not like any other technological advancement. AI like this is built on theft from artists. Those artists are struggling more than ever against a tsunami of sentiment declaring the loss of their livelihoods as “progress”.

Cody, I wonder if you would have a strong opinion about someone taking all of your lecture videos, feeding them into AI and “writing” and selling (and profiting from) a book based on your work?”

Pet Quartet from Gamehead was the surprise hit of the games I have played so far. Didn’t know anything about it heading to the convention but happy I picked it up. To me it feels like a more satisfying version of Coloretto.

Disclosure Day is an absolute delight from start to finish. Spielberg challenges us to consider what it would mean to find we weren’t alone in the universe, as well as what it means to be human. The entire cast is excellent but particularly Emily Blunt and Colman Domingo stood out to me.

If you're casually dismissing the importance of recognizing Pride Month while an explicitly fascist regime is in power, you're missing the whole point. For better or worse, Pride recognition and celebration matters more than it has in a long time, I think.
