Cars have four lanes here; people have less than one meter. The cars have claimed even that. I'm joining the #WarOnWalking on the side of walking! 🌎 Little Rock, AR, USA
A half-meter of sidewalk; to the right of the curb is a four-lane stroad; to the left is a meter-high concrete retaining wall with a meter-and-a-half high wooden residential fence on top of it. Ahead the residential fence is replaced by untrimmed bushes which encroach upon the sidewalk.A sidewalk, approximately a meter wide, is blocked by a temporary orange road sign which reads, "TRUCKS ENTERING AND LEAVING ROADWAY." To the left is a four-lane stroad; to the right is a retaining wall with a tall fence on top. Ahead, a sing proclaims that the speed limit is 35 mph, which is fast enough to kill a person outside of a car in 90%+ of crashes. The sidewalk and road gutter are strewn with pink, brown, and green plant debris.

My parents sold our house in 1983 for $139,900. That’s nearly a 25x price increase. What have we done? We wonder why family formation has fallen so much. The average income multiplier since then is less than 5. We need to incrementally work our way #BackTo3 for the next generations.

Spent 4.5 hours on a bike today between getting to the dentist and picking the kid up from after school sports. Driving, would have been 1.5 hours. But what really gets me is that if I could just bike the direct, flat routes the cars take, that biking time would have been cut in half.
