They're offering essentially the current service for the same subscription, and a higher-price version that adds new material after one month instead of three. Honestly, I'd pay for that. So as long as it actually works as advertised, I'm not too bothered.

The MU app itself has never been its strong point and its search function has been laughably broken for years. I doubt Webtoons can do much worse.

Frankly, as long as the app works, it's probably an improvement. Marvel Unlimited's strength has always been the back catalogue rather than the app. They're promising "over 35000 comics" which is basically what MU's app store listing says (actually, it says "over 30,000").

I do wonder whether part of the problem is that this genuinely is a very bad year for new music. It’s still possible to have breakout hits - look at Adela. There just isn’t much out there that’s exciting people.

I think the difference is that Mr Blobby still comes up often enough for people to have a vague idea who he is, and in the pork sketch they showed the original advert so that anyone who didn’t know it would get what they’d been doing.

There's a degree of uptake, mostly in the areas where you don't actually have to trust them to be accurate. I gather they're quite good at flagging potentially relevant documents in large volumes of material, or reviewing lengthy contracts for possible inconsistencies, for example.

I think a lot of it is rooted in its time in a way that will make it increasingly distant to younger people - who under the age of 50 knows what a Ford Prefect was? And the whole idea of the Guide is inherently pre-internet.
