Photo from Reddit of today’s Critical Mass. There are hundreds of cyclists in this photo and only about 40 people in cars. Yet both groups are taking up roughly the same amount of road space.

Ireland’s first retrofitted Dutch-style roundabout opens in busy Dublin area
It's not the first Dutch-style roundabout in Ireland, but a roundabout on Templeville Road in Dublin is the first Dutch-like design to be retrofitted at an existing busy roundabout. The roundabout is adjacent to Templeogue College, where Templeville Road meets Wainsfort Road and Cypress Grove Road. As reported in 2023, Ireland's first Dutch-style roundabout was opened on Church Fields Link Road in Mulhuddart, Dublin 15.

Main takeaways (More indept reflection to come!) 🚲 It should be safe for kids to walk and cycle. It's pretty simple and its not radical. ☕Independent kids make for more relaxed parents 🚑Road safety is serious - don't trivialise it ⛸️Canadians like ice hockey

Absolutely delighted we were able to welcome @tomflood.bsky.social for a series of Road Safety and sustainable transport events. With the dominance of cars comes an injustice to society at large and most particularly young people. This can only change when we see the problem for what it is.

It was great to listen to @tomflood.bsky.social ‘s talk on communications and road safety in TCD last night. And I have a letter in the Irish Times today which shines a light on how careless driving is just kinda accepted.
Letter to the THE IRISH TIMES.
Sir, - Seán Canney, the Minister of State with responsibility for road safety, stated at an informal meeting of EU transport ministers in Dublin Castle on Monday that "99 per cent of the people on the roads drive with due care".
May I ask where these roads are? Because they sound idyllic - perfect for cycling my primary-school children to school.
In contrast, on our 2km commute this morning, I counted 11 cars in the bus lane, seven drivers looking at their phones in traffic, one woman putting on her make-up and another eating her breakfast. And at least five drivers speeding at least 20km/h or more over the speed limit. - Yours, etc,
NICK ROYLE, Blackrock,
Dublin.

it's great that the focus on this -single- area of road safety is continuing but is there a chance we could, I dunno, focus even 10% of this attention on the boring old stuff like speeding, distracted driving, or safe road design?
