Happy birthday to the only player to slam an HR completely out of Memorial Stadium—60 years ago this season. Frank Robinson was a hard-charger on the field and a leader in clubhouse. When he came to Baltimore, he made a good team great and rallied a city☝️

Exited to share Stoop Storytelling stage tomorrow with some great Baltimore journalists. H.L Mencken famously said: "I had more fun doing news reporting than in any other enterprise. It is really the life of kings.” He was known for his love of drink and hyperbole, but he's right about the fun part.

A game-tying, pinch-hit home run Sammy Basallo in the 8th, two diving catches in right field by Tyler O’Neil in 9th, and then a walk-off double by Dylan Beavers in the 10th for a 4-2 Orioles win. How can you not be romantic about baseball?

Baltimore smells like woodsmoke tonight, and the harbor area is hazy. I’ve long believed that maps provide a distorted view of our planet. Maps suggest the lie that problems I should care about are way *over there* and thus it doesn’t affect me. Lines delineating a place with no connection to me.
