Reservation and trust land is 3.8% of the lower 48 today. This is how the rest was taken: colonial counties first, then 1.82 billion acres of recorded cessions by 1894. In California, 18 treaties were never ratified. The land was taken anyway. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #maps #dataviz

I think - not that anyone cares what I think - the Green Party screwed up by failing to concentrate on the environment, which could motivate people of all political colours, especially as Conservatives no longer want to conserve. If you want leftist politics there is plenty of choice.

Antarctic sea-ice extent has begun declining much earlier than usual and is currently at a level comparable to the record-low year of 2023 at this time of year. @osi-saf.eumetsat.int 🧪🌊❄️
Line plot of Southern Hemisphere sea-ice extent throughout the year from 1978 to 2026, with individual years coloured by decade and 2026 shown in black. Sea-ice extent follows a strong seasonal cycle, reaching its minimum in February and maximum in September. In 2026, sea-ice extent began declining unusually early and is currently close to, or below, the record-low levels observed in 2023.
