I’ve had a lot of people ask me what happened” with Ekko Astral. So, now that the band is officially over, it was time I broke my silence. TL,DR: More words than I ever wanted to say about the end of this band, and the vicious lies told about my best friend. RIP Ekko Astral, Ekko Astral forever ♾️

RIP Ekko Astral (2021-2026)
I was Ekko Astral's manager and publicist in 2023 and 2024.
For several months now, I have watched silently as my best friend Jae Holzman has been harassed, threatened, and ostracized from her own community over specious claims with non-existent evidence, intentional misrepresentation of events, and several flat out lies. I would know, I was there for all of it.
This past February, my best friend had to flee her home, fearing for her own safety. She was being threatened by someone she had legitimate reason to be afraid of, and yet almost no one in her community was willing to intervene. When her attempts to find safety became public, and she found herself under fire for trying to protect herself, the distress almost sent her to the hospital. She remains afraid of her former bandmate to this day.

I told myself early on — because none of this should have been made public in the first place — that there was nothing to be gained in litigating via social media. But it has been painful to say nothing as others cynically rushed to flood the zone with lies. This continues to happen even as the band is ending. And I believe that a lot of the people who rushed to judge and punish Jae did so because they didn't know the full picture, because they were directly lied to or mislead by omission.
There are people who should have known better, who knew Jae was responding to someone they knew posed a serious threat.
This was so much more than a social media post, and they knew that.

This band didn't have to end, and with every passing day it should be more and more clear who is to blame for that sad reality. I remain proud of everything that Ekko Astral accomplished, 1 am proud to call Jae Holzman my friend.
People deserved to know the truth, but I don't want to solve one witch hunt with another witch hunt. You don't have to like Jae, or agree with her, or associate with her. But it should be clear there is something deeply wrong about this outcome, and she did nothing to deserve this scrutiny. Period.

I read that Vulture article on the LA clown scene and my biggest takeaway besides “I’ve been right to steer clear of this” is that it has way more of a pseudo-spiritual cult vibe than i was prepared for. It would have made more sense for it to *just* be a fetish / annoying performance art thing
