Around then I remember watching a Euro qualifier in the Lake District pub while on holiday in which Paul Ince was playing. The locals shouted racist epithets for literally any mistake he made. I said something to defend him and afterwards I was made to feel like I’d walked into the Slaughtered Lamb.
