I remember when he stopped being invited to VR events because so many studios were pulling out of speaking or showing anywhere that welcomed him. It's incredibly disappointing to see folks in games embrace him again.

[11] Pikmin 3 Deluxe (Switch, 2020) The only Pikmin game I hadn't played yet! Picked it up because of the Switch 2 update and had fun with it. It doesn't come close to the highs of Pikmin 4 but it was still worth the time.

[10] Desktop Explorer (PC, 2026) A unique, ambitious puzzle game that feels fresh and delivers brilliant "aha" moments throughout. I had to look up hints a couple times (and was glad I did), but the rare puzzles that felt like stretches were outweighed by the many memorable highs.

VR isn't dead, but it's not growing. It's not just about price either. Comfort being downplayed (or even vilified) poisoned the well and made it less approachable than ever. You can track the decline of hardware adoption 1:1 with comfortable games falling out of the top selling charts.

I got a chance to playtest an early build of this, expected to play an hour or so. Ended up getting very into it and playing through the whole campaign. It's only gotten better since then. If you like autobattlers (or you're new to them like I was) it's definitely worth a look!

I learned about it from E3 coverage that year! Took me visiting a dozen stores to find a copy too. I ran a booth next to one of Keita's games at a festival a decade later, and he graciously made some upgrades to that copy. 😅
