To anyone interested in visualizing energy flows (or any consumption vs production flows) in a very compact and small way in #homeassistant dashboards - I have released my flow-card, and it is officially listed in #HACS already. More info @ github.com/c-kick/hnl-f...

Just released v3 of my pet-project, "DOMule" — a lightweight module loader for JavaScript modules which enables any DOM element to request modules, so the page only loads scripts/modules for elements that actually require them. github.com/c-kick/DOMul... #WebPerf #JavaScript #NoBuild #ES6Modules

I recently needed a grid layout in CSS. So I resorted to the "baseline grid" I built earlier (which I wrote about here: hnldesign.hashnode.dev/setting-a-fl...). As always, I thought "hold on, I can improve this". Turns out: I did improve it - a lot. Will write about it soon. #css #layout #baseline

If I have friends on here who are having mental health issues then please don’t use ChatGPT to deal with them. Call or see your doctor and get professional human help. It’s not your friend or therapist and it’s only going to make matters a lot worse.

Started work on a custom #homeassistant card that visualizes energy flows — or any kind of flow that can be split into producing and consuming components. Think solar production and grid import vs consumption and grid return, battery charge vs discharge, gas/water usage, etc.

Single card showing a total solar energy production of 18.4 kWh. Below, two proportional bars display 10.8 kWh of consumption and 7.6 kWh of grid return, using blue and green color coding with matching icons for clarity.

Screenshot of multiple Power Bars cards in a Home Assistant dashboard, each visualizing energy or utility flows using proportional colored bars,in various sizes. Flows include power (in watts), gas (in cubic meters), and abstract inputs/outputs, with icons and values clearly labeled in a compact layout.

Two Power Bars cards in a Home Assistant dashboard. The left card shows real-time energy usage, and the right card daily energy usage using proportional bars with watt and kilowatt-hour values, including grid input, solar return, and consumption with matching icons and colors.

Apparently, it's now - finally - possible to animate an element to 𝚑𝚎𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝: 𝚊𝚞𝚝𝚘; in CSS: Using 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚙𝚘𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚎-𝚜𝚒𝚣𝚎: 𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚘𝚠-𝚔𝚎𝚢𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚍𝚜; Support is 67% according to caniuse, so not quite widely available yet, but it's great that this is finally becoming a reality. developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch.
We would appreciate some privacy at this time.
There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us. But, as he would say, "Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole."
It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.
