Thank you for saying this. There's no reason reporters couldn't just say this too. It's not judgmental or anything, it's just obvious.

Just in the scale of things, Americans will sue over very minor matters. No, it doesn't have sugar but here's how much sugar it has. Could one not simply drink one's suspiciously delicious coffee and call it a day?

I forgot. You cannot make jokes on Bluesky, even self-deprecating ones about hair. I will not mock the moderators and the hair I think they have. Or don't.

A Florida Man level of mugshot though. That was my hair in high school after I used big rollers but just on top.

I have been fed up with NYT games for a year. "Whoever did this is just unhinged," I'd say flatly. (And I'm sick of Connections.) But the murder story? Explains it all. Which one was the birth mother? Did the in-laws really "take turns" shooting her? Where was the wife? Who was the wife?

"Mic," maybe brilliant women in public life might not want to venture on subjects that attract extremely violent men because any quote will be taken out of context. Please do discuss in your "straight-talking" newsletter/podcast/podletter, you hard man you.

Watching this is like watching your dad get drunk at a party. His pretty South American wife doesn't understand that Canadian parents don't do this. Oh don't encourage him. Please don't dance, father o' mine.

For those confused because of the context-collapse reality we all live in now, this is an AI-generated meme trend that the Poilievres have jumped on. The song is by American rappers Quavo & Takeoff. Takeoff was accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit in 2020. He was murdered in 2022.

What colour do those cities prefer in buildings? Toronto has STYLE. What colour? Gray. What material? Concretey. What shape? Boxy. How cheap? Glass glass glass. There's a Toronto semi-multi-plex planned for Trinity Bellwood that wins bigly. A glass mansard roof in a heatwave. Eat that, Paris!

It's hard to understand Trump without Aaron Rupar's visuals. They're like Renaissance paintings as cartoons and I can't figure out how that works either. Just chomp on them.

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.

The protester was opposing the use of WOOL of all things. It was a minor issue in a small show and yet Kolb physically attacked two people, an explosion of moneyed male rage that left everyone stunned. No explanation.

Steven Kolb, an openly gay man, put his hand over the woman's mouth and his thumb against her nose, impeding her breathing. He had her head backed up against his groin. People around them seemed shocked but did nothing to defend her. Trump times.

This is sad. It's just another reason why Bluesky is fading. Any deviance is silenced. By deviance, I mean "interesting remarks" or "differing views" or a "fresh angle." It doesn't matter if platforms die or not, it's more that the damage to free speech was self-inflicted.

I dunno, if I were talking to a group of elementary school kids, I’d want to hear about things like their favorite colors or books. (I’m sure they have a favorite Pigeon book.) “How have you guys been using the slop app?” is probably the last thing I’d ever think to ask a kid.

Initially I was frustrated with the rise of self-checkout but I appreciated how stores passed the savings on to me rather than pocket the money, fire armies of workers & make me do a job I suck at. It’s also why I’m optimistic about AI! I have been kicked in the head by several horses.

That said, it's very hard to explain to normal men why women don't like to leave their laundry unattended alone in an apartment building with open access to the laundry room. Or why women hide laundry bins when repairmen visit. Or why women WEAR PANTS on the Toronto subway. This is our life.

Story on Hong Kong man in Victoria, B.C. refers to the "online voyeurism community." The NYT today refers to the "9/11 completist community." It's jargon and doesn't help readers understand online crime or ruinous obsession or indeed how how this creep used a cellphone.

On 9/11 when the first plane hit I was driving home from the gym listening to Howard Stern on 92.3 K-Rock after doing 45 minutes on the elliptical in my Atlantic Blue Mustang for a Women’s Studies class at Rutgers. If I can remember that, he should be able to remember being a heroic first responder.
