Part of this chapter examines when Hans Eysenck, who was heavily criticised for suggesting links between race and IQ, attempted to speak at LSE and was prevented from doing so by protesting students. I have discussed this episode in 'no platforming' history here: hatfulofhistory.com/2020/05/08/m...

My submission to the Oxford English Dictionary highlighted that the earliest written use of the word 'tankie' was in the New Statesman in November 1977. It was previously listed as from the mid-1980s.
tanky
NOUN2

slang. Now historical.
1977–
A nickname for a member of the British Communist Party supporting hardline Soviet policies, spec. that of military intervention. Usually in plural.
1977
The New Worker..is the organ of the New Communist Party, the breakaway group which rejects Eurocommunism and embraces the Russians, tanks and all. Their erstwhile comrades call them ‘the tankies’.

In 1945, the UK published a lengthy Top Secret memorandum on how to deter or defeat the Soviet threat. A Soviet spy in London's intelligence ranks obtained a copy, translated it, and put it in Josef Stalin's hands. And it is every bit as compelling a read now as it was then. See for yourself.
