Just seen a complaint that Blue Sky doesn't contain nearly enough silliness, so, y'know...
Royal Navy monitor HMS Marshal Ney. It's basically a hull, a spotting tower, and a honking great pair of 15" guns perched atop a tall cylindrical turret, the type of which usually has fair maiden lowering her hair for a fairytale suitor, or at least a lad with a fetish for blondes who keep tripping over their ponytail. It's a deeply silly ship.

this exact equation forms the basis for the reason I never want to drive a car (and that it terrifies me), because on my moped there's a theoretical maximum of me and one or two others if I fuck up, whereas in a car that's a thousand kg of steel with a lot of kinetic energy

An irenic society losing its way. An insatiable thirst for secrets. And a woman torn between all worlds above and below, within and without. For Ashlee Rinn Jensdottir, it's going to be a hard fall. Look for Stardust: Act One on your favorite digital marketplaces this Autumn 2026.

As a Swedish American who strongly believes in bildning (self-education or improvement) this is one of the most petulant demands an audience can make of an author. It's not hard to pick up a dictionary. Hell, if you're reading the e-book, all you have to do is HIGHLIGHT THE WORD!

Remember The Hobbit is about 15 guys conspiring to murder a billionaire because he stole too much money and then a sixteenth guy who was not even involved shot that billionaire because he just knew it was the right thing to. Class solidarity, you know? There also was a bear.

Like all Children of _ books it does start out very fragmented but comes together really nicely in the end, and everyone's character arcs are really neat.

Every 'protagonist' is a very interesting character; Alis and Mira's arcs really hooked me, and Avigael's trying to be a person who isn't Avrana speaks to me, and I love how Cato's inherent coolness is in direct narrative conflict with his goals. Kott's arc gives me hope that things can change.

Extremely juicy themes, especially the central one of conflict & trauma but also of progress vs stagnatism, the inempathy/asociality of billionaires, choosing kindness, and the nature of personhood and how it varies by upbringing.

propaganda poster of the UDPFBPRN. The background is a quartet of smaller spaceships.
The Large blue text reads "Brigantinen. De Amyraleryrn Frin". the smaller white text between ships reads "Vykly Kysiret Ynikysir".
In the bottom left corner is the roundel of the United Democratic People's Federation of Brovaran Planetary Republics' Navy. It is an upright cross with a pair of parallel lines crossing over the bottom half.

israel as a state should be dismantled. there is no place, ever, for ethnostates in this world. the jewish community deserve far better than to be continuously tied to a nation that causes nothing but death, all the while said nation claims that every jew agrees with them, IS them, by default

It took her a long time to realise most people couldn't hear the soundtrack of their lives. Hers was always present; when she was with other people she could hear theirs too. Sometimes they made a cacophony, sometimes harmony, when mixing with hers. When it changed, she learned to trust it.
