Damn yes, the lads are all choking to get right back to that forensic focus on the war crimes that we all remember so very well, and the definitely real attempt to bring us all back together rather than relentless Bodysnatchers pointing and screeching
I think saying all Zionists are the moral equivalent of Nick Griffin is beyond pious and flimsy. It's horrible, and helps no-one. If you reply, be civil. That's the only way we get back to a)the horrors committed by the Israeli govt and b)the polarised mess our country is in

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.

None of the claims made here are true, but that's beside the point. What matters is the suggestion that certain people should not be subject to purity tests, while others should. For example, raise Palestine and you will be asked if you think Israel has the right to exist.

Why are we even asking whether this project is racist, as we enter *year four* of undisguised genocide, while Israel’s leadership class keep telling journos that Britain is a dark Bolshevo-Muslim nightmare led by Islamocommunist extremists? *Of course* it is extremely racist, undeniably so.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

for millennia you would spend your life dreaming of an audience with the pope and today, through the miracle of technology, Jesus Returns Movie can talk to him with the press of a button and he uses it to say “has his excellency considered the Minions”
What about the Minions? Hundreds of humans working together to bring Entertainment to life... Does the Church Approve of that? Or is that a NO-GO?
Cartoons, Stop-Motion Animation, CGi... they're ALL in the same category. (Now, add Ai Films to it.) They're NOT traditional movies, they are something else... simply PURE entertainment. The Church now DECIDES what
TOOL Creative HUMANS are using?

and there’s a gif of two minions hula dancing in grass skirts that fall down and show their undies.

The social stigma is all backwards. We're so afraid of the possibility that some unicorn who has really "genuine concerns" for non-racist reasons might get called racist, we think it perfectly reasonable to whitewash the actual National Front.

Meanwhile we can see that "genuine concerns" is such a knee-jerk response amongst the reactionary middle classes and the commentariat now that they will even apply it to actual Blood and Soil fascists attacking infrastructure and trying to murder migrants.

These people are not there to represent your interests. They are there to go on TV and tell you that sadly, nothing can be done, ever. If you take it quietly, they are successful Prime Ministers. If you don’t and you kick off, they are failures. It’s not much more complicated than that.

I would double-underline this point, in 72 point bold. It does not matter whether Boris Johnson was a catastrophic PM who e.g. resisted public health measures in a deadly global pandemic, to protect the property interests of his newspaper owner controllers. He did what they hired him to do. The end.

Rich men used to fear that a mob from the town would show up and seize their factories and mansions. That ceased to be any concern a long time ago so now, they fight like lions to ensure random dorks on Twitter dot com aren’t telling each other not to buy Hank Wank’s new album because he is a dick.

The public have been disenfranchised until now, states do little but hand out favours and contracts to allies and intensify or relax crackdowns. The only means people have for influence are withholding their votes, or withholding their custom. So of course, that shit needs cracking down on too.

Ten years of relentlessly hateful, comically elitist anti-democratic politics across the white people world, helpfully summarised. The wrong people are talking, the wrong people are deciding and it’s harming the careers of important people who actually matter. Smithers! Release the hounds
The incident fits a broader pattern in the discourse around 'free speech' and 'cancel culture': whatever comes from the top down is freedom; whatever comes from the bottom up is bullying and censorship. When Macklemore is dropped at the behest of the billionaire stadium owner Robert Kraft, it's an exercise of the freedom of businesses to 'demonstrate their values' by deciding whom to platform. But when Ed Sheeran's fans decide not to buy tickets to his performances, or even demand refunds, it's bullying, mob behaviour. Since most people are not billionaires and do not own stadiums, they can exercise meaningful power only collectively. The collective exercise of power must therefore be demonised.

I’ll add: I believe the lads when they say it isn’t political, because it’s so plainly social and professional: they plainly view the likes of a Polanski, a Corbyn or an Abbot as lesser people who are beneath them and can be kicked with impunity. Unlike a weird little fash crank like Michael Gove.

@MSF
On 13 September, an MSF bus carrying 10 humanitarian staff in Gaza City was damaged by an Israeli airstrike on a targeted vehicle just two metres away. One of our colleagues was injured in the strike.
The bus was clearly identified as an MSF vehicle, with a large MSF sticker visible on its roof. Once again, Israeli forces have shown a blatant disregard for the safety of humanitarian and medical personnel.
Nowhere is safe in Gaza. Civilians, healthcare workers and humanitarian staff must be protected. Clearly marked medical and humanitarian vehicles must be spared from attacks.
