My review of The Drama is that I’ve never watched anything where the characters’ coffee cups were more obviously empty throughout.

I feel like the debate about what parts of AI are good and what parts are bad should wait until we solve the worldwide crisis caused by the fact that almost of all of its evangelists in both tech and govt are morally, intellectually, and ethically unequipped to oversee it, when not downright evil.

There were so many more teens and tweens out and about in my neighborhood this summer thanks to e-bikes. Heck, there were even more kids out on regular bikes. It was great.

Protest that endures, I think, is moved by a hope far more modest than that of public success: namely, the hope of preserving qualities in one's own heart and spirit that would be destroyed by acquiescence. Wendell Berry, What Are People For?

When the MacBook Neo came out, it was shocking because it was a well-made product at a decent price. Not a scam! But when Apple raised prices on everything (including the Neo) a few months later, it became obvious it was a scam, too, as they’d released it for $600 knowing they’d bump it up to $700.

My theory of everything is that the masculine project, more than anything else, is about taking up space and leaving you no room for your own. You are prohibited from some spaces outright, but in those where you’re allowed, you must hear me, see me, or think about me at all times.

Portillo’s was doomed the second they sold to private equity. All it took to lose me as a customer was something as simple as replacing their brewed iced tea with Gold Peak fountain swill. These layoffs won’t fix anything.

Yep, it definitely won’t be forgotten, since it’s still happening. We also learned the limits of ethical endurance when even many left-ish people could only hold out until late 2021 before agreeing the pandemic was over and we needed to “return to normal” (though we’re too broken to ever get there).

This article needs to be read by every current or aspiring screenwriter. No more in medias res intros followed by the inevitable “24 hours earlier…” card. They suck! “My biggest objection… is that it treats me like I'm an idiot who has to be tricked into a story.”

Ah, Thanks. I thought (and think!) most people who care about it at all (like me) are pro-vaccine and air quality and such. Anti-Covid, antivax makes no sense and has to be an online fringe of the fringe.

What’s the Covid doom cult? Is that the people who think lockdowns destroyed an entire generation, the people who still mask in crowds and vaccinate (admittedly that’s me), or something else I’ve never heard of?

Masks are an extremely cheap & relatively efficient way to prevent all kinds of airborne illnesses getting into your own body. They don't harm surrounding people, they are easy to carry, can't be used in any devious way, yet that MD seems bothered by this completely innocuous things. I miss adults.
