Possibly some freelance opportunities on the side about the dire under/unemployment situation for autistic ppl in general, if you are interested, although it isn't one to one with the layoff scenario. Still salient tho and also is newsworthy

TBH many, many of those orgs haze, at least at my flagship state school 10-15 years ago. super depressing - good not to let them off the hook out of a sense that their professional, service, philanthropy, whatever bent would prevent such a culture. can't speak to sexual violence but certainly hazing

Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

To be clear, the Eastland family's actions have shown that they should never be allowed to run a camp ever again or to act in any supervisory capacity. I trust the trustees of the bankruptcy to make the right call and feel it's important to remember that the Eastlands don't get to make the choice.

💔 Pushing through the heartbreak to say that I am running in honor and memory of the 27 campers and counselors who died at Camp Mystic, among the 130+ who died in the floods across the state! It's thru Team 27, raising $ for the kids' memorial foundations and running to remember them together.
Aerial shot of Camp Mystic, home to me for ten summers and site where my extended family member died as a 9-year-old during the July 4, 2025 floodsHeaven's 27 in memoriam pic alphabetically featuring the 27, who are: Janie Hunt, Cile Steward, Lucy Dillon, Mary Grace Baker, Sarah Marsh, Mary Kate Jacobe, Margaret Bellows, Margaret Sheedy, Mary Barrett Stephens, Eloise Peck, Wynne Naylor, Abby Pohl, Linnie McCown, Lila Bonner, Katherine Feruzzo, Chloe Childress, Hanna Lawrence and her twin, Rebecca Lawrence, Molly DeWitt, Ellen Getten, Kellyanne Lytal, Lainey Landry, Hadley Hanna, Greta Toranzo, Virginia Hollis, Renee Smajstrla, and Blakely McCrory. no, it's really not. even if you're only sympathetic towards innocent children, consider them. personally, I am against the death penalty overall. and as you point out, there will be no resultant change in viewpoint as a result of suffering destruction. the marginalized tend to suffer most anyway

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

And there is his height. Pascaretta, who said he is 5-foot-6 (“5-7 on a good day”), knows it can be a deal breaker for some women — certainly on the dating apps. “That’s a big deal for some of these girls,” he said.

A match he recently went on a few dates with mentioned, while they were at dinner, that she wanted to be with a tall guy — even though the team screens for women who are open to shorter men.

“I’m like, You’re 5-foot-1! I’m tall compared to you,” he said. “It made me sensitive to it.”Pascaretta also sent the team an Excel spreadsheet cataloging his must-haves: an accomplished professional, ideally a doctor, lawyer or executive, “someone like me who has been ‘heads down’ career focus, but now is ready for a serious relationship.” Someone who has never been married or is at least amicably divorced. Someone shorter than him. And someone between the ages of 25 and 43. It also detailed his strong preference for a woman who is, among other things, “naturally pretty” and “stylish,” “loyal, classy, ambitious, elegant, feminine, emotionally stable,” from a “well-respected family” and who went to a top-tier school.

My general rule is to assume good faith when we meet; to validate as we build a relationship; but to recognize what those limits are when I find em and not assume that _i_ am the one to effectively change that. Some people are comfortable in being a mark and will put in work to stay there.

Basically the last time plagiarism existed as a "Very Serious Issue" in national media was during the Claudine Gay episode*. A total coincidence I'm sure 🙄 (*never mind that the actual committee overseeing the issue deemed that she hadn't committed a violation serious enough to merit that label).

“The effect of ChatGPT on educators’ lives is catastrophic. Whether you intended to do it or not, you’ve made every teacher’s life infinitely more difficult than it was two years ago. So, just let that settle in… If students are using it to compose, which is the biggest tragedy of all, they’ll never learn to write. And their voice is stolen from them. They’ll never have the ability to say their truth and tell their own story. And that’s silencing an entire generation or two.”
