The more I think about it the more absurd it looks what Kellner has done. His calculation assumes that every voter in the country knows who the top two parties in their constituency are and then applies the Yougov rates of tactical voting for each contest. kellnerp.substack.com/p/how-tactic...

Call my a cynic but I still don't trust that the next Labour manifesto will commit to a serious form of IR. At best a Scotland-style AMS with too many single-member districts and too few list seats, likely regionalissed and thus incapable of compensating for resulting disproportionalities.

The raw visceral hatred some men have for women, at least women who step out of line, is shocking. I know it sounds like some sorta "one of the good ones" ploy but I am genuinely taken aback when I see it because I think: I had a fairly normal socialisation as a man in the west, how did I miss this?

Yes, this is very bad propaganda using very bad AI slop, but it is also from a party that hasn't won any votes worth mentioning in over half a century. So why bother?

The more I look at it, the more this graph at the end of my most recent Gist explains the behaviour of so many of Ireland's political parties. SF, for example, simply can't deal with 50% of its supporters looking to strengthen institutions while the other 50% want to blow them up.
Stacked bar chart from More in Common, June 2026. Question: "Which comes closest to your view? Please use a scale of 1–4 where 1 means you agree with the first statement and 4 means you agree with the second." Statement 1: "Our political and social institutions are worth preserving and improving, not destroying." Statement 4: "When I think about our political and social institutions, I cannot help thinking 'just let them all burn.'" Results in percent, listed as 1 (preserve), 2, 3, 4 (burn):

All respondents: 28, 30, 22, 20.
Fianna Fáil: 46, 29, 13, 11.
Sinn Féin: 25, 25, 25, 25.
Fine Gael: 47, 31, 13, 9.
Green Party: 46, 22, 21, 12.
Labour: 36, 36, 20, 8.
Social Democrats: 23, 49, 22, 7.
Independent Ireland / Aontú: 15, 28, 27, 29.
Other: 28, 26, 21, 26.
Non-voters: 20, 32, 25, 23.

3rd PhD baby is out in the world 🎉 Voting far right because your region is left-behind? Not necessarily. "Left-behind" regions — slower growth, higher unemployment, industrial decline — are said to drive votes for the radical right. My new paper in @actapolitica.bsky.social complicates this story.

Somebody needs to explain to me why German parties contemplate using "federal enforcement" against an AfD-led government in Saxony-Anhalt, or even to remove the operational plan of the Bundeswehr from the offices before AfD takes over, but to initiate proceedings to ban the party are off the table.

The full picture of the exit poll. Would give the four party left of centre coalition 183 out of 349 seats. Which looks like a quite comfortable majority.
