As an alumni of the University of Edinburgh, it is a tad surreal to receive an email from the university secretary, implying we all ought to be rending our garments at the news Peter Mathieson will be demitting office as principal some time in 2028. What can I say? Haud me back.

Reviewer-saviour YouTube also appears on the rise, where the benevolent internet personality turns up at your doomed shop and generously undooms it because of their astonishing audience purchase and general benevolence. Which is nice but guaranteed to spawn an irritating trend.

I am currently appreciating the phenomenon of awkward middle aged British YouTube food reviewers, mostly "testing" appalling processed gunk, who are clearly on a nervous vision quest to find their very own snappy, winning catchphrase to use signing in & signing off their videos.

I am not very worried about about the Tory Tapestry’s misuse of “doth”. What worries me much more is this sequence of panels which seems to show a small boat full of brown-skinned people followed by a plague of rats running riot and then a lot of dead white people labelled tax payers.
Detail from Conservative Party mock Bayeux Tapestry showing 1. A boat full of brown skinned people. 2. Enormous rats chasing cats. 3. White-skinned “tax payers” dead in the streets.

Cooking this summer, I've been reminded of the wonderful utility of the humble box grater and how it often produces better textures than all your ⚡️ powered zappers. Grated tomato to top bread. In kebabs or meatballs, simply minced🧅 can be texturally far superior to any chopped.
