I dunno man, if you can look me in the eye and say, "Yeah, Brad Bradford's bad, but Olivia Chow isn't any better" then I think we just fundamentally live in different universes and I don't have the energy to argue with that

I've got more author interviews sitting in my email, but FUCK I just had a second AND third one since yesterday who I followed the links of and found gen AI stuff. After I'd drafted and edited their posts. I'm literally about to stop doing these. STOP LYING IN YOUR EMAILS TO ME.

ah yes, my books written by me, with covers from human designers, available for sale on fucking itch.io are the same as *checks notes* having a problem with generative ai use. yes, that makes complete sense. well done. you've bamboozled me.

Trying not to feel super down about not having sold a book in a week on KDP, so I'm going to draft some blog posts and avoid my feelings. If I can't sell my own books, I can at least promote others 💪

There is no faster way to show you don’t care about the ‘art’ you’re making, artistic integrity in general, real artists or THE PLANET, than by being a pathetic loser who uses generative AI.

Speaking of which, it's Canadian Thanksgiving weekend!🦃
When is Thanksgiving?
Americans and Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving on different days, but the
date of Thanksgiving in both countries has changed many times over the
last hundred or so years. In Canada, Thanksgiving was originally in April.
It was changed to November 6 in 1879 and changed again to Remembrance
Day in 1921. In 1957, Canadian Thanksgiving was finally established as the
second Monday in October. It’s not venerated the same way in all of Canada,

I have not one, not two, but THREE reminders of my hatred of gen AI on my policy/resources pages. Am I being too subtle here????? IF YOU USE GEN AI, I DO NOT SUPPORT YOU. I DO NOT LIKE YOU. I WILL NOT PROMOTE YOU. GO. AWAY. I do this for free and you are not entitled to my time!
Reminder: I will not promote, review, recommend or support anyone using generative AI in their books or art. This includes, but is not limited to: AI covers, AI writing, AI narrations, AI character imagery and/or AI promo pics. If you use it, I am not the person for you and please do not ask for an exception or email me to see if you’ll change my mind. This is a hard rule and not one that will change. I hate gen AI passionately and will not touch it with a ten foot pole. Thank you.

If you use generative AI in any part of your process, I am not the reviewer for you. I will not accept, read, review or promote books with AI generated covers, interiors or writing. If you use gen AI for your character art or promo, I will also not accept your book. Please do not ask for an exception. I will ignore your email. I only accept 100% human-made books with human-made covers. Thank you.GENERAL NOTICE: I have tried my utmost to ensure that none of the links listed on my page utilise, promote or in any way endorse generative AI slop. Gen AI has no place in the book and art communities. It’s theft, it’s pollution and it’s lazy. If you find that one of these pages suddenly promotes such nonsense, please let me know ASAP and I will remove the link. Trust that I will NEVER knowingly promote, endorse or share art/books made with generative AI. It goes against everything I believe in and everything that the creative arts stand for.

The Liberals and Conservatives teamed up again today — funny how that keeps happening — to get Bill C-39 over the hurdle of its first vote. The massive, 243-page bill bulldozes environmental protections, Indigenous rights and attacks the right to strike. Here's what this means:

Only 26 MPs voted against the Bill at this first vote. From what I saw, it was entirely NDP, Bloc and Green who opposed it. Conservatives and Liberals all appeared to vote for it. Those 14 Liberals who claimed to care about the environment……very curious where your spine is?

Carney has a chance to show us there’s actually still a difference between his government and the one we’d have if Poilievre had won the election. Will he take it? Federal funding to help LGBTQ rights groups survive the attacks on their humanity is about to expire. He can do something about it:

Carney is trying to get ahead of criticisms by saying this announcement is tied to others: carbon capture (a snake oil solution to climate change used to extract more oil from depleted wells) And ocean conservation efforts (good! But not enough to mitigate the pipeline harm!!)

Carney tells us that among the criteria for a project being designated in the national interest, the major projects office considers whether the project “contributes to Canadas clean growth and climate goals.” And a BITUMEN PIPELINE PASSED THIS TEST? Then the test is bullshit.

Carney greenwashes and also attempts to Indigenous-wash his pipeline, despite: 1) environmental experts making it clear his ocean conservation plan wont change the fact that this is an orca-killing project 2) Indigenous communities already sounding the alarm about insufficient consultation
