This was in response to a minor being gang raped by people posing as police in Delhi. Same week, there was another case of actual police gang raping another minor in Uttar Pradesh. As well as another news story of a minor being molested by a group of men. India's rotted through with rape culture.

For all that it's been barely reported in the UK press, it's still hard to understate the importance of the stance @labourunionsuk.bsky.social has taken on trans and non-binary rights this week. Every single trade union affiliated to the party of government has stood up and said we will not comply.

I have fairly strong opinions of that kind of system, actually: India has this system, where you "decide" early STEM or humanities early on, and the perception is STEM="intelligent" students, humanities=not. The STEM branch rarely get any humanities, and are taught they don't need it. I genuinely..

I think people are reacting to this bc it feels like downplaying the water issue but really it isn't. Biodiversity impacts, land use, air pollution - serious impacts (not 'potential btw but real) that all can be made to look like nothing by putting them on a national or global denominator
