Am 2.10.1904 befahl der deutsche Generalleutnant Lothar von Trotha die gezielte Vernichtung der Herero in „Deutsch-Südwestafrika", am 22.4.1905 auch die der Nama. Im Januar 1904 erhoben sich die Herero gegen die deutsche Kolonialherrschaft. Ende 1904 lehnten sich auch die Nama auf.
