Congress created FirstNet in the wake of 9/11 to launch a universal broadband network for first responders — but the work remains unfinished.

Everyone knows NTIA's "Condition 50" is anti-net neutrality. Turns out it will also cost CA billions in benefits they already have, preempt CA's "no throttling public safety" law, and give Trump a choke chain on CA tech policy. It's a deal only Trump could love! Will CA fall for it?

California is being asked to sacrifice up to $16 billion in broadband benefits it already has – in exchange for a $1.42 billion BEAD grant that the Trump administration can revoke whenever it likes.

Modern eSiMs can support multiple networks, allowing public safety to multihome devices for added reliability. It lets public safety use the network that works best without buying new devices. And it will give first responders access to different sats on same device.

Interoperability and multiple networks allowed me to communicate with my family. But as we all should remember, first responders at the World Trade Center didn't have interoperable networks. Too many who could have lived died as a result of not getting warning in time.
