Hello, October. You arrived sooner than expected but come in and sit down.
Three pumpkin squash on an old wooden table. Table is on grass with a few autumn leaves scattered around. In the background some ivy climbs a wall.

#OtD 10 Oct 1889 a nationwide wave of schoolchildren's strikes was sparked in East London, when kids from a dozen schools walked out of class and took to the streets waving red flags, and banners emblazoned with "No cane" and "Shorter hours" stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8241...

I'm making a traditional beef stew today with dumplings. Pictures later, but I'll be starting it soon and then getting it on a slow simmer.

There doesn't always need to be an answer because sometimes there really isn't a solution. Except, tea. Maybe tea can be a good substitute.

Last night ( after the gorgeous sunset) I sat and stared at the sea for quite a long time. The Eddystone lighthouse was blinking away and there was a small ship at anchor, all lit up. It was really nice. I should do it more often.
Night sky over the sea. A small ship is lit up. There's the remains of a red sky to the right and a lighter blue steak in the middle.

I may have to go out for sausages. Really fancy some. The local butcher produces a pretty tasty banger.

Someone has been in my car and taken stuff. My car is full of junk (and they left most of it) but my parking money tin is gone plus my french keys. The keys are useless to them, and really inconvenient for me. Don't 'at' me about keeping stuff in the car. I need to, like everyone else does.

Well, I accidentally ended up in the pub. I rarely do this but tonight I wanted to. Chatting to a lovely young couple ( from Nottingham) who are technically young enough to be my grandchildren. Such a sweet, happy couple with their 2 impeccably behaved dogs. The youngsters are all right.

So , I went to the crochet course. It was nice but I found it quite tricky. I've already forgotten how to do it and we have to do homework!!! I think I need a live- in crochet instructor.

Got the ten pound meal deal from my nearest supermarket...chicken Kiev's that look jolly decent, potatoes dauphinois, green veg and lemon tarts to conclude. Pretty good and pretty tasty and no great effort for me. Bootle of red going down well too.
