Some of my favourite childhood memories from the early 90s are my parents getting me up in the wee hours and driving us down to Newcastle (from Stirling) to go to the Metrocentre and I'd get to go to the Metroland indoor themepark. It's absolutely where my love themeparks came from

11 years ago, my sister and I took our parents to the stage show of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in Edinburgh (it was great fun. My dad still talks about it and he hates musicals). So, tonight I'm rewatching the 1988 film.

Out for a jog. Ran out of contact lenses... saw a woman in a black furry jacket doubled over cleaning up after her big black dog. Was convinced for min. it was 2 dogs alone until she stood up 🤣 it's 16°C! Too warm for a fur coat, surely. Anyway, new contacts should arrive tomorrow 🙈

I try not to respond to certain emails in the heat of the moment. It's unprofessional. But, today I did and I've spent the last 45 mins worrying that I was maybe too harsh. Then I reread my response after a cup of tea and it's actually really polite 🤣 Like, what was I even worried about?

I've had sinus issues for ~8 years. Tried treatment several times, but gave up & went back on the sprays because I can't handle > a couple of hours unable to breathe through my nose. Suffering through the treatment again hoping that my appointment next week will actually uncover something fixable 🤞

Answer: "I’ve been phenomenally lucky to work with some fantastic directors such as Ken Loach, Danny Boyle and Alan Parker, who you would be foolish not to learn from. Directing myself in The Legend of Barney Thomson was certainly different to just acting, because directors have 500 fires to put out each day, so I was thinking more about the directing than the performance."

Tonight I switched from vicariously living my little pirate life in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced for boarding the beautiful Galeón Andalucía while it's currently docked in Ayr, Scotland. Absolutely wonderful. The video of it being built was fascinating.

At the Edinburgh International Film Festival this weekend. First stop is the out of competition shorts including "Three" directed by Robert Carlyle, which I'm looking forward to seeing, although, given the themes, I expect to find all of these films somewhat depressing 😅
