Absolutely terrific stuff at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie. Including a small bit really original exhibition on Berlin between the wars, far beyond usual Otto Dix etc. This little piece by Jeanne Mammen from 1931 is titled “Transvestite Bar.” Berlin had 170 specifically queer bars then.

Both-sides reporting reflects and benefits basic two-party politics. Where there is proportional representation, there are thresholds to being seated in the legislature but multiple voices have to be considered, not just two. Both-sides reporting is a political choice.

This seems to be a pattern: Carney quietly negotiates "deals" with FOREIGN investors without consulting the CANADIAN citizens being impacted. And he seldom takes questions from journalists, just like Harper. Government by photo op, NOT democracy. I don't care how much of a genius he thinks he is!

Let me be even clearer: forget of how good/bad specific bits of European law are, the impt thing is that large chunks of EU law govern things that in Canada are the exclusive jurisdiction of provinces. Any really comprehensive EU partnership will in practice require provincial unanimity.

Making the point in a different way, Coyne here is reduced to guessing the purpose and effect of what is a cemtrepiece of Carney’s plan. This matters, because “Invest in Canada” is a slogan that can mean wildly different things. Carney isn’t bothering to tell us what he means by it.

Climate-wise, less flying would be a good thing. Whether selling off parts of our airports will be more effective in accomplishing this than ever-increasing fuel costs is hard to say, but either way, Carney's Neoliberal goal of perpetual growth is likely just a fantasy.

I do not understand the 'why' of this. Private equity ruins everything - job losses, service quality declines, prices increase - they pillage and plunder. They do not reinvest. Nothing makes sense to me about this. Carney is moving too fast on this.
