Yes he won and won well, even if Binface's result is amazing. But Farage's decision to stay away because he apparently didn't want to be seen lining up alongside of a bunch of fellow candidates he's reported as dismissing as 'nobodies' doesn't sit too well with his claim to be a man of the people.

Reasons I’m not a politician No 322: If I were under a parliamentary investigation for misconduct, I wouldn’t trigger a pointless and costly circus of a by-election, draw endless attention to myself, and refuse to turn up to the declaration, so that the investigation is revived months later

The front cover reads “NEW OLD SAYINGS ABOUT THE WEATHER” and features a photograph of a firefighter tackling a large wildfire. A speech bubble reads: “Red sky at night, Europe’s alight! Red sky in the morning, I wonder if it could possibly be global warming?” A banner at the bottom reads: “30! 40! 50! PHEW! WHAT A SCORCHED-EARTH!”

In accordance with ancient tradition, our next Prime Minister is announced to the nation while standing between a furry and a man with a bin on his head.
A victorious Andy Burnham MP (24,937 votes), as the result of the Makerfield by-election is announced, flanked by defeated candidates Count Binface (a bloke in a vaguely sci-fi costume with a large bin for a helmet; 95 votes) and Robert Pownall (who is in a full body fox costume, holding a sign reading "Protect British Wildlife"; 18 votes). There are some other candidates there just out of shot but that's not important right now.
