I think it’s unconscionable that we are willing to move heaven and earth to find money for stadiums, but seemingly incapable of doing the same to prevent the closure of schools. My constituents are outraged. They are right to be. There’s still time to fix this, but we’re going to need to lock in.

Research brief continued.
Role of cost on interest in preferred services: We simulated what each sample would choose if offered a $25 online order with handout or a more preferred option at varying cost. A majority would opt for preferred models at low cost, especially with a care package, with decreasing uptake as cost increased.
Knowledge gaps: 70% of MS in-person sample was aware of medication abortion and 80.5% of the 4-state online sample. 53% of MS in-person respondents could correctly identify in-state restrictions and 42% of the 4-state sample.
Findings highlight an opportunity to raise awareness of medication abortion and state laws and policies, and to design medication abortion services that meet the preferences of people in the Southeastern US.

Who responded to our survey?
Mississippi in person-sample was 84% self-identified as Black, 6% White, 5% HIspanic, 1% Native, 1% AAPI.
4-state online sample was 49% White, 33% Black, 14% HIspanic, 3% Native, 1% AAPI.
Participants were 18 - 45 years old; average age was 28 years in-person and 31 online. Half in-person and one third online had no children. Over 1 in 4 had had a pregnancy that did not end in live birth.
