Incredible how the editors at @nytimes.com still don't understand how embarrassing it is to do this, and how it undermines the credibility of the paper and its journalists. It's like a toddler covering their face to play hide and seek. We see you but it's not cute, you look like an asshole.

From the Bomb to the Beat: How Civil Defense Turned to Urban Unrest in Cold War America

Plug in heat pump. Can use existing 120v outlet nearby. 240v for a heat pump is nice but the power savings is tiny over a 120v plug. There’s probably a bit of extra piping to change and capping a gas line. But the power requirements on the heat pump are way smaller.

Hey, so i do this for a living. First of all, it's a 6-month prognosis, not 3. It's also a bit of a moving target, since a patient has ups and downs during that period. You don't kick someone off immediately if they rebound a little, but you do need to prove that a patient is trending downwards

Also schools are emergency infrastructure in disasters. They should be citadels of sustenance and hardened with the best utilities. We used to treat post offices as bomb shelters during the cold war, that's the vibe schools should have when it comes to facilities spending.
