The piece is well argued and highly plausible. Also, the cause could be higher expected long-run economic growth, expectations of greater global investment demand, or just plain uncertainty about the distant future.

I suspect that there's more evil over there largely because over there is more populated. The only time I have ever come under attack online was so traumatizing that, to recover, I stayed away for months. That episode occurred not on X but rather on Bluesky.

By my reading, the takeaway for investors is that, because the oil curve is so strongly backwardated, a carefully constructed long commodity-futures position that captures the roll yield may still be attractive, even though the market expects spot oil prices to fall sharply by next spring.

The pending oil deal involves Russian Lukoil international assets (now sanctioned by the US) that would be acquired at a big discount by a Trump campaign donor, a UAE-based investor in Trump/Witkoff family crypto company, and Kushner/Ivanka's Qatari-based real estate partners.

The oil market is in steep backwardation. Expectations alone are not the sole factor shaping the futures curve, but backwardation is consistent with the market view, “This is an acute crisis, but we do not currently price it as a permanent one.”

this is a real problem, but cartel is a bad solution, for very obvious reasons. (it is the main solution we currently use in Western economies, which explains why our economies have turned extractive rentier, 'cuz there's no limiting principle to cartel.) can i interest you in a better solution?
