GM Tip: Share information freely instead of hiding it behind rolls or denying it entirely. Informed choices are much more interesting than random ones, and sharing information gives the players more authorial power, which makes the game more engaging for everybody. #ttrpg #dnd #rpg #gaming

I think this is one of the best pieces of #ttrpg advice I've ever written, for my "Apps: Shades of Home" Game. 🧵 Be Honest and Open It’s no-one’s place in the game to spring a “Gotcha!” on anyone else; the MC and the PCs are not trying to out-think each other to create or avoid traps.

Redoing the playsheets for a sample of a game I've almost completed; I ran this sample at a convention in 2024 but wasn't happy with the layout of the information for the players. It's much cleaner now. #ttrpg #PbtA

Playsheet for Captain Jeremiah Fleet, a passenger on a coach in 18th century England, for a folk horror game. The Captain is a survivor who feels less pain, can discreetly assess potential targets and is always ready to back-up a failed plan with violence.

One of the best campaigns I've ever played was when @groundhoggoth.itch.io adapted Cold City/Hot War to set it right after H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. Really interesting system! But as always, the GM and other players were the keys to my enjoyment.

#RPGaDay2026 Day 6 - Reach My preferred alternative to most range systems, I just need to know whether you can reach it, throw a rock at it or see it; its simple, intuitive and when you hit an edge case where it's debatable, you just let the dice decide whether you can hit it or not at that range.

#RPGaDay2026 Day 5 - Burden I love RPGs that unburden themselves from inventory management: it makes sense in a tactical RPG, where you're constantly min-maxing for the advantage, but in narrative RPGs, it just holds you all back.

#RPGaDay2026 Day 4 - Charm I have a soft spot for charming games, wholesome stories with low stakes, problems overcome by friends working together. Camp Flying Moose does this well, with adventures in a girls' summer camp, but also Golden Sky Stories with its cutesy anthro-animals antics.

#RPGaDay2026 Day 3 - Poise I prefer PCs without poise: an unflappable character makes for a fairly dull story. What motivates them? Give me messy PCs every time, the sort who panic, beg, bargain, rage, cry and kiss the wrong person at the right time. Poise is for villains.
