Happy Sunday morning! This article was finally retracted: psycnet.apa.org/fulltext/202... Unfortunately the author continues as is - no accountability. Curious if we will see more sloppy work from her published in Psych journals soon-ish 🧐

Reviews point out that it reads like AI slop, so I checked. The book contains 58 references to scientific articles and books. At least 6 are completely hallucinated. Several other are articles irrelevant to the claim. This is ironic given the author's public statements regarding AI and its misuse.

This is…an interesting issue, given how absolutely standard it is to simply name the platform you used, or describe whatever you built yourself.
3. Implausible data collection

The description of the data collection procedure raises questions about how behavioral interaction data were obtained. According to the supplementary materials, participants either used their own GenAI accounts or an “embedded interface,” and interaction metrics (e.g., prompts, edits, override behavior) were logged automatically. We are not aware of research platforms of this sophistication and the article (incl. supplementary materials) does not include enough information to understand how such a platform would be administered.
