Casually throwing away a decade of work, probably 10s of millions of dollars worth, and making Edmonton start from scratch. Stopping a building boom in its tracks too. Red tape reduction my ass.
Edmonton will be required to adopt rules for high-density infill development that revert to the parameters in place before its 2024 zoning changes for housing types, density and height, and to restore minimum on-site parking requirements in place before 2020. Edmonton will have three months from Oct. 8 to amend its bylaw.

I’m increasingly convinced, watching his politics, that what motivates Carney the most isn’t brutally ~pragmatic~ economics. The pipeline shows he’s willing to make moves with no economic case, seemingly to be popular in Alberta. I think he’s motivated by his own legacy.

Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is taking a try-before-you-buy approach with her new photo-centric AI agent startup Dazzle, a tactic she said is important “for those occasional users or those users who are just trying to see what the service can do at the very beginning.”

Dazzle analyzes users’ personal photos to understand aspects of their lives, such as their family members or interests, and then can take actions like reminding someone that a pair of shoes they recently looked up is on sale online.

It’s a strategy she learned from her early tenure at Google
